A DIFFERENT KIND OF CANDADITE

ACTION NOT WORDS. Victor Weintraub is a very different candidate for Congress. Victor is a Progressive Democrat with a platform. He is not just another lawyer or politician. He does not use political consultants to tell him what to say. He will take action to advance his platform and to protect the people of Arizona. Victor is a retired businessman who operated his own mortgage lending company, First Charter Financial Corporation, for 40 years. He specialized nationally in hospitality and commercial loans ranging from $10 million to $40 million. Victor decided that it was his obligation to run for Congress to represent his neighbors during this difficult time for our democracy. He has years of knowledge and experience. He is undertaking a serious obligation, as all Americans should.

When a member of Congress says he has a platform, it means he has sorted out a number of programs he will try to enact into law. It is different from listing things that he is in favor of and opposed to. Consultants do that all of the time. One person can concentrate on a few items and not on everything. My platform is outlined below. I want to mention here that the most important task that I have is to defend our constitution and our voting rights.

Victor was born and grew up in New York City. He received his MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He also has a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from New York University. He has lived in Arizona for 40 years. He has been married to his wife, Carole, for 57 years. They have three grown children and three grandchildren.  Victor is a grandfather.  Victor is also a veteran.

While at Columbia, Victor studied economics in addition to finance and management. Victor has written on several economic topics and has a good working knowledge of economics.  To the left is the cover of Occupy We The People. Victor wrote this book in 2012 when he was involved in the Occupy Movement. It is about Money, Politics, and the Middle Class. It is as important today as it was when I wrote it. You can get a copy as an e-book from Amazon or Barnes & Noble for just $3.00. It is a worthwhile read. Victor has also published three novels. I do not think that any other candidate has ever written a political book

Victor has the business knowledge and experience to distinguish between truth and pie-in-the-sky political fantasy. He is serious, tenacious, and strong enough to deliver for his constituents. He knows how to get things done in complex situations. How to cut through obstacles. Victor is by far the best candidate for Congress. Victor Weintraub does not use political consultants. All Victor Weintraub websites are written by Victor Weintraub.

PLATFORM AND IMPORTANT ISSUES

Every candidate running for office lists numerous election issues. They are saying they favor specific issues. They do not say what they like or dislike about the particular issue. They do not say what they intend to do or how. If you look at all of the candidates, they are all the same. Often these lists are made up by political consultants who do not want to upset any voter.

Victor Weintraub is different from the crowd. He has identified four issue areas that, when he is elected to Congress, he intends to address. The most important is protecting the US Constitution and protecting our rights. The other three issues are more usual. These are Universal Health Care, Immigration and Education. These are the four areas that Victor has picked to concentrate on. Her is limiting it to four because he can not focus on everything. He will be one of 435 members of the House of Representatives. These four areas are discussed more fully below.

Victor will protect our rights granted to us by our Constitution. Our nation does not have a king or a despot. In addition to the principal task of protecting  the Constriction, Victor will propose a bill in Congress to provide universal health care. Medicare for all Americans. This would remove private profit and insurance costs from the health care system. He will propose a bill to address immigration in a reasonable manner. No more masked federal agents violating citizen rights. He will propose a bill in Congress to subsidize states so they can provide two more years of higher education to all Americans who qualify. Education strengthens our democracy.  My platform is outlined below. This is why it is my duty to go to Congress.

Yes, there are many areas where Victor will vote in favor. Here is the big list. Affordable housing, protecting social security and senior rights, protecting women and reproductive rights, protecting voting, civil, and democratic rights, protecting LGBTQ, unions, and the right to organize rights. Holding down inflation and improving the economy. Most other liberal and progressive issues. The same as other candidates.

THE U S CONSTITUTION

The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776. It declared that the original 13 colonies were independent from the king of England. Independent states, but with no functioning government. Not until September 17, 1787, was a constitution ratified by 9 of the original 13 colonies. It finally went into effect on March 4, 1789, after years of negotiation and trial of other forms of government. It endures to this day. The oldest national government in the world. 250 years.

It is the United States Constitution and the Bill of Rights that make us different from all other countries. You may not realize it, but we have rights that other countries do not have. Our freedom of speech rights are far more liberal than those in Canada or Great Britain. We have freedom of religion, freedom to protest, and freedom of assembly. We can criticize our government. You can't do that in most other countries. We have all kinds of rights you never think about. We do not have a king or a demagogue. We, the people, have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. We are protected by the rule of law. No man is above the law. We are free. I want to keep things that way.

Our President was elected to office two times. He swore to uphold and to defend the Constitution twice. He has violated his oath of office many times. He has indicated that he considers himself a demagogue. He thinks of himself as being above the law. He has violated his two oaths of office many times. He has extended his executive powers far beyond what our Constitution allows. He has indicated that he wants to federalize presidential elections and to suppress our voting rights. Another violation of the Constitution. He indicates that he thinks of himself as a demagogue and being above the law.

We are now in an undeclared war with Iran. President Trump has asked for $200 billion to pay for or extend the war. He has proposed the Save America Act that will take away your right to vote. We have had the killing of US Citizens who were exercising their right to protest. ENOUGH, we are done. The No Kings Rally had over 8 million people nationally protesting peacefully on March 28.

We do not want this kind of person as our president. It is my responsibility and the responsibility of every American to correct this attack on our Constitution. When I am elected to the House of Representatives, I will do everything in my power to correct this attack on our country. Impeachment starts in the House of Representatives.

Medical

UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE

The United States is the only developed nation without universal healthcare. Take the insurance companies out of health care. We spend a lot of money on health care and insurance. Our results are sometimes OK, but often are very expensive and inefficient. The problem is that our health care system involves the insurance industry, which does not provide health care. They are a middleman. They make coverage decisions based on financial criteria rather than medical criteria. Companies and unions buy health care from insurance companies, which in turn buy it from other providers.

We need a universal health care system that purchases directly from providers. We need to expand Medicare to cover all Americans. Instead of paying an insurance company for coverage, we will pay a health care tax to a government agency, which administers and pays for our health care. The cost will be about the same as it is now. We will save the overhead, administration, and profits of the insurance industry. We will have expanded coverage at no extra cost. Harry Truman proposed this, but failed. The insurance lobby won.

Many other countries have universal health care. I do not think that anyone has insurance in their system. The Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare, is a first step in this direction. If we all make payments to a government agency and eliminate insurance, we will have better health care coverage at the same or lower cost. We should eliminate insurance company involvement in healthcare. I will sponsor a bill to enact a Universal Health Care Law.

Education

EDUCATION

We have the best education system in the world. Students from all over the world come to our educational institutions. We have free public education in every state through the 12th grade. A well-educated population is the backbone of our strength.

The concept of a free public education through the 12th grade dates back to the 1800s. Those were much simpler times. We now live in a technological world. As a nation, we should raise educational attainment by 2 years. I am not suggesting that this increase should be free. I suggest that the federal government provide a subsidy to all states so that the cost of junior and community college becomes very low. I may be ahead of my time on this suggestion. It is the future I think. I will sponsor this bill.

Immigration

IMMIGRATION

We have covered this subject from all angles. We have had open borders and a large number of illegals entering our country. We now have tightly closed borders and no immigration. We now have a program of deporting all kinds of illegal immigrants. We have citizens' protests. We have had citizens killed exercising their constitutional rights.  The time has come for us to step back, review what we are doing. We must decide whether everything makes sense. Everybody has a different opinion. We need some serious discussion and serious, intelligent evaluation. Some compromise by all.

We should seriously look at the situation of the people that we call dreamers. We should also look at long-term residents who are just laborers. We also need a system that allows people to immigrate based on background, education, and economic factors.

We can not paint all illegal immigrants with the same brush and assume that they are all criminals. In reality, most are just raising a family. We can not just go ahead as we are now doing. We must compromise. We must come up with a reasonable and workable plan. Do not assume the worst. We must look at things intelligently and make compromises to develop a reasonable plan. We are all descendants of immigrants.
